Flagstaff Newry County Down
This is one of the finest scenic viewpoints in all of Ireland. It shows Carlingford Lough which is an excellent example of a glacial feature. At low tide the sill at the mouth is easily identified as is the deep depression in the centre.
However this is just one of several geological features covering S Armagh and S Down, glacial and volcanic, that can be seen from this point. This is a must do for anybody visiting this area.
On the left you can see Warrenpoint and the Mourne Mountains and on the Right is Carlingfoed and Greenore with the Cooley Mountains.
